New piece of furniture

I haven't shown you the shop for quite sometime. I will, once we decorate for Spring. We have a number of new furniture arriving, which will gradually replace what looks now like "old". Everything is made of solid beech, no nasty poisons added. Some items will also come in white with water based paint.

Here is our new secretaire cum vanity. It is made of solid cultivated beech, naturally dried and processed. All our furniture is handmade.

Here it is in our shop. Notice the hydraulic opening of the mirror. Noise-free.
All of our furniture is understated yet luxurious in feel and a pleasure to the touch. Do you like this style?

Grecian chic

I thought I'd show you some work pictures, today. This is a city hotel we furnished. Not quite our "raw" signature, but a nice job for its style. What do you think?
Coming uo next: new furniture at the shop, plus what I am ordering for Spring/Summer!

Designers Guild at Maison et Objet 2010

Candy Stripe sofa=Love!

I love the new graphic flowers. They are a little retro, yet so now!

Luxe

Brown and green and so Designers Guild

For the little girl in me!

I have fallen in love with this chair! Reminds me of strawberry filled chocolate!

Now some views of the booth. Notice the turquoise color, very Designers Guild, but also fashion's Spring/Summer 2010 favorite color.

Flowers, always a major inspiration.

Maison et Objet, A l' annee prochaine!

Now I look forward to my first Spring orders! I'll keep you posted!

Her red sofa

This morning I received the following phone call:

-Could you please tell me, I have a set of red sofas in my living room. What color curtains must I buy?

-(Me , after a breif thought, as in "who is this/ what is this about?) Well, it depends on your room's style, your lifestyle and the style of your furniture. What kind of fabric have you used for your furniture?

-(Silence)

-You may use floral prints or checks if you are a fter a country look. Or beige or ecru plains in linen or linen/cotton blend.

-No white, then?

-No, not I'd say.

-Or red?

-No, unless your sofas are red velvet and you want to make red velvet curtains, which could be quite regal with some golden accents on your pillows (thinking of Napoleon's bees, here!)

-What time do you close today?

-3 p.m.

-And you open at?..

-5.30 p.m.

-till?

-9p.m.

-all right. Bye.

Let's see what comes out of that!

Shop update

Some great stuff is getting ready for Autumn/Winter 2009/10 at the shop!

I am currently proof reading the new catalogue, one of the few ones to have seen it before hand. Great photography. Poetics applied to reality. Amazing new products. Can't show you just yet, but here is a clue: a new Dutch designer is on to something!

See you soon!

New Arrivals: Maya Romanoff

I'm quite excited to announce the beginning of a new partnership. The American newcomer is MAYA ROMANOFF extraordinary surfacing materials through Pierre Frey who represents Romanoff in Europe.

Wallpaper cut, shaped, and applied to resemble flowering magnolia trees.

"Done on a much smaller scale, this would be fabulous in one's home. Possibly as a family tree with tiny photos of family members in the center of each flower. Scrap paper or fabric could be used in lieu of wall paper for the flowers....ideas are endless", writes High Desert Diva. Romanoff specialises in special techiniques and styles for the discerning customer both in private and work oriented projects. Materials used include crystal, leather, mother of pearl and rafia. You may visit the Maya Romanoff website here and view a video on their work right below. Here is to new beginnings.
