Edward Van Vliet

The Dutch are at the forefront of design, home design included. Modern, livable and whimsical.
My most recent find is the very eligible Edward Van Vliet. In his SEVV studio work, traditional design is mixed with high tech and natural materials, together with elements from different cultures, resulting in an eclectic way of design without an overflow of decorations. Van Vliet is interested in the identity and desired image of others. The products of SEVV create an atmosphere of luxury, exclusivity, well-being and personality to express this desired image.
A name to look out for.You may view some more of SEVV's work here.

Summer camp

I hope everyone is doing OK. Or wait! I know you do! I have been spying on you, although I couldn't/didn't post most of the time.
We are back from our summer camp. Yes, it was fun, and yes it was rather short, just a week or so, but it is still better than nothing.
It is great to feel relaxed and virtually carefree!
Happy autumn, then, and looking forward to the new season'e fun!

Greek Architects

In a previous post I wrote about a holiday home on the island of Tinos, designed by Zeppos-Georgiadis and Associates. They are among the best in Greece right now. I especially like the work they did at the Moraitis nursery in Athens.

Tasos Zeppos was born in Zacynthos, in 1951. He has graduated from the Architectural School of the University of Torino in 1980, and has been a member of TEE since 1982.

Eleni Georgiades was born in Athens in 1957. She studied Landscape Architecture in the Athenaeum Architectural School of Lausanne, from which she graduated in 1981.

The company specializes in the design of hotels, houses, offices, stores and -state of the art- exhibition spaces.
ZEGE's work is internationally acclaimed for its distinctive creative style, which is contemporary, innovative, qualitative and anthropocentric.

A charming English cottage

While I am on the other side of the pond, meaning dear UK, and before I move back to my special summer posts of fabulous homes in Greece, may I show you about the home of a special lady, who graces the "Sisters In Style" section of my sidebar sometime now. She is a graceful and very helpful shop owner, too, as I have tasted first hand, when I bought some fabulous porcelain handles and a tin box that now grace old shelves and drawers in my new bedroom.

See more of Sohie Perks Ward's cottage in the August 2008 issue of Country Homes & Interiors.
Also do not forget to stop by her on-line shop and her newly established blog here (Say Hi from me!)
