Are you a Martha?

Is your home spotless?
May I walk barefoot on your pristine tiles and fluffy carpets?

How do you do it?
Are there days you wish you had a home organizer on call?
Someone to organise the closets and put an order to kids' rooms?
Someone to clean those floors and keep mould off the bathroom?
And then you have the odd friend who pops in and you have to put everything in order in a gif?
Oh, you know the drill...
So let's just remember together a few tried and tested tips
...

How do you manage?
Do you have a no-shoes policy?
Do you vacuum after every meal?

Do tell!

Home made jewellery cleaner

1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon dish detergent
1 cup water
1 piece aluminum foil

 Directions:

1. Heat water in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes.
2. Cut a piece of aluminum foil that roughly covers the bottom of a small bowl (like a cereal bowl).
3. Pour hot water into bowl. Place salt, soda, and dishwashing liquid into bowl. Place jewelry on top of foil and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse jewelry in cool water and dry jewelry completely with soft cloth. Discard solution after use and make a new batch next time.
4. According to wire-sculpture.com, "this works well for gold-filled, brass, german (nickel) silver, and sterling silver. I have even cleaned jewelry with freshwater pearls, shell cameos and mother of pearl with no problem.".

I found it here.

Tips for stress-free small spaces

Hang Drapes From Floor To Ceilling
This helps anchor a room and provides a cocooning effect. A simple valance disguises the workings of the window treatment, while implying a sense of architecture.

Add A Mirror

A strategically placed mirror makes a small space feel larger. Place one over a mantel or couch or in an entryway and notice how the reflection seems to expand and brighten the room.

Show Off Your Books

An artfully organized shelf of books can help divide a room into separate living spaces, while also holding sentimental belongings. Prominently display the books that are most meaningful to you.

Create A Nook

Designate one chair your “quiet area” and pull it into a corner, preferably near a window. Keep books, magazines, and handicrafts easily accessible by placing them on a side table or in a nearby basket.

Spring Cleaning Tips II

Following on my previous post, Good Housekeeping offers some more tips on Spring Cleaning. These include a shop list, tips on cleaning the fridge fast, getting rid of clutter, even cleaning the computer. Click here to read the full article. If you are interested at clutter control, check also this very useful article. Most tips take 10 minutes to implement, like tidying up the family room during ad brakes. For a complete makeover you'll need 30 days. Not bad for a 10 min, OK, even make it 30 min effort!

I'm going to post this on the notice board and check one item out every time I pass through!
